Squad and Training Information

The Different Squad Types are:

Bronze Squad ($70 per month)

Bronze squad is for swimmers who are ready to join the swimming community and start squad swimming. For 7-year old’s we offer a Junior Dolphin membership which includes access to fun entry level competitions. 8-year olds and over have access to rookie meets and other fun events, including our Club Nights.

Unlike traditional learn-to-swim lessons, in the VPS Bronze children learn skills such as swimming in lanes, refine their work on freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke techniques while developing endurance. They are also introduced to butterfly, race dives, freestyle turns, basic breaststroke turns, use of the pacing clock and the training "rules of the pool", understanding swim sets and etiquette of squad training. Bronze squad swimmers must be able to swim 50m freestyle (with flippers if required).  CJ will assess each child at their try out sessions.

Silver Squad (A Squad - $90 per month, B Squad - $85 per month)

For entry to the VPSC Silver squad, swimmers are expected to be competent in freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. Members of this squad are expected to compete in club time trials.  Swimmers must be able to swim nonstop 400m Freestyle (including turns) and 100m Individual Medley demonstrating good technique.
